As we say on our cover, Atlantis Rising specializes in ancient mysteries, unexplained anomalies, and future science. You will find plenty of all three in this assortment of DVDs.
Searching for the Ancient Records: Closer than Ever Before
An A.R.E. Conferences DVD Presentation featuring: Christopher Dunn, Laird Scranton, John Van Auken, and Peter Woodbury
Atlantis Rising (AR) has provided previous reviews of DVDs featuring Christopher Dunn, and many readers will be anxious to hear his latest presentations on this four-disc DVD set.
Christopher Dunn is featured on Disc 1. His material is in reference to some of his research of the past 20 years, which had resulted in the publication in 1998 of his book, The Giza Power Plant: Technologies of Ancient Egypt, which describes the Great Pyramid as a holistic energy device that is harmonically coupled with the Earth. Chris has published over a dozen magazine articles and has had his research referenced in over a dozen books on Egypt. He has appeared on PAX Television, the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Lifetime Television, and most recently on the History Channel’s series “Ancient Aliens,” episode: “The Evidence.” His second book, Lost Technologies of Ancient Egypt: Advanced Engineering in the Temples of the Pharaohs, focuses on an important aspect of his research into the manufacturing capabilities of the ancient Egyptians; and, through his engineer’s eye and camera, he reveals to his readers previously overlooked magisterial characteristics of Egyptian architectural and manufacturing wizardry. He is an engaging, fun speaker with fascinating information to add to whatever conference in which he partakes.
Disc 2 is allotted to Laird Scranton, maybe not as well known to AR readers, though his articles have appeared more than once in these pages. He is featured in John Anthony West’s “Magical Egypt” documentary series and “The Pyramid Code” documentary series, both sold by us; and we have included his three books in our catalog. Scranton is an independent software designer from Albany, New York, who writes about ancient mysteries, cosmology, and language. He has been interviewed on a variety of radio programs around the world, and he has presented at conferences on Ancient Mysteries, including Walter Cruttenden’s annual event CPAK (Conference on Precession and Ancient Knowledge). Scranton’s talk on this DVD is based on his three books on the Dogon. His first book, The Science of the Dogon, offers a case-by-case comparison of Dogon descriptions and drawings to corresponding scientific definitions and diagrams from authors like Stephen Hawking and Brian Greene, then extends this analysis to the counterparts of these symbols in both the ancient Egyptian and Hebrew religions. What is ultimately revealed is the scientific basis for the language of the Egyptian hieroglyphs, which was deliberately encoded to prevent the knowledge of these concepts from falling into the hands of all but the highest members of the Egyptian priesthood. Scranton also offers compelling new interpretations for many of the most familiar Egyptian symbols, such as the pyramid and the scarab, and presents new explanations for the origins of religiously charged words, such as Jehovah and Satan.
In his second book, Sacred Symbols of the Dogon, Scranton demonstrated that the cosmological structure described in the myths and drawings of the Dogon runs parallel to modern science—atomic theory, quantum theory, and string theory—their drawings often taking the same form as accurate scientific diagrams that relate to the formation of matter. He also pointed to the close resemblance between the keywords and component elements of Dogon cosmology and those of ancient Egypt, and the implication that ancient cosmology may also be about actual science. He uses these parallels as the starting point for a new interpretation of the Egyptian hieroglyphic language. By substituting Dogon cosmological drawings for equivalent glyph shapes in Egyptian words, a new way of reading and interpreting the Egyptian hieroglyphs emerges. Scranton shows how each hieroglyph constitutes an entire concept, and that their meanings are scientific in nature. Using the Dogon symbols as a “Rosetta stone,” he reveals references within the ancient Egyptian language that define the full range of scientific components of matter: from massless waves to the completed atom, even suggesting direct correlations to a fully realized unified field theory.
The Cosmological Origin of Myth and Symbol—From the Dogon and Ancient Egypt to India, Tibet, and China, is his third book, and it extends his search to the cosmologies of India, Tibet, and China. Great thinkers and researchers have acknowledged the many broad similarities that exist between the myths and symbols of ancient cultures. One largely unexplored explanation for these similarities lies in the possibility that these systems of myth all descended from one common cosmological plan. Outlining the most significant aspects of cosmology found among the Dogon, ancient Egyptians, and ancient Buddhists, Scranton identifies the signature attributes of a theoretic ancient parent cosmology that may well have spawned these great ancient creation traditions. Examining the esoteric nature of cosmology itself, he shows how this parent cosmology encompassed both a plan for the civilized instruction of humanity as well as the conceptual origins of language. The recurring shapes in all ancient religions were key elements of this plan, designed to give physical manifestation to the sacred and provide the means to conceptualize and compare earthly dimensions with those of the heavens. As a practical application of the plan, Scranton explores the myths and language of an obscure Chinese priestly tribe known as the Na-Khi the keepers of the world’s last surviving hieroglyphic language. Suggesting that cosmology may have engendered civilization and not the other way around, Scranton reveals how this plan of cosmology provides the missing link between our macroscopic universe and the microscopic world of atoms. He synthesizes this information quite nicely in his two-hour time slot.
Disc 3 features two A.R.E. members: John Van Auken is a Director at A.R.E. and the popular leader of A.R.E.’s life-changing tours to Egypt and other sacred sites. He is the author of more than one dozen books, including his latest, Edgar Cayce’s Tales of Ancient Egypt. He states that his expertise is in mysticism, particularly Egyptian and Christian mysticism. He has appeared on several television and radio programs, including the FOX show, “Opening the Tomb Live from Egypt,” Modern Marvels’ “The Pyramids,” Religion Today, The Art Bell Show, Spiritual Alternatives, the Discovery Channel’s, “Searching for Atlantis,” and the History Channel’s, “Digging for the Truth.” His talk on Disc 3 is on “Mayan Mysticism.” Also featured on Disc 3 is Peter Woodbury, an A.R.E. staff member, and psychotherapist specializing in hypnotherapy in private practice in Virginia Beach, VA. A popular presenter on key topics from the Cayce readings, Woodbury travels throughout the U.S. and abroad to speak for A.R.E. and leads tours to Egypt and South American sites. His talk on this DVD is on “Toltec Wisdom: The Cayce Parallels.”
Then, John Van Auken is back with a bonus, Disc 4, where he shares recent discoveries from Bimini.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SPONTANEOUS EVOLUTION
Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D.
In this dynamic, illustrated lecture, Dr. Lipton presents compelling, scientific evidence that shows how our collective perceptions are contributing to global crises and how, by changing those perceptions, civilization will thrive into the future (if looking at today’s headlines makes you wonder about the fate of our planet these days!). Well, here is some news that may surprise you—from an evolutionary standpoint; we are exactly where we need to be. According to Dr. Lipton, we are surrounded by the proof that we are poised to take an incredible leap forward in the growth of our species.
If you are familiar with The Biology of Belief DVD (Atlantis Rising has reviewed it as well), you know the energy, infused with intelligence and wit, that Dr. Lipton brings to his presentations. But for those who haven’t been introduced to his work, you need to know a little about him. Lipton began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973. His research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused upon the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz and published in the journal “Science” was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering. In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homolog of a computer chip, the cell’s equivalent of a brain. His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment, operating through the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off.
His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study—the science of ‘epigenetics.’ Lipton summarized his findings in his book entitled, The Biology of Belief, upon which he based his DVD of the same title. He is now regarded as one of the leading voices of the new biology. Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas.
Lipton’s novel scientific approach transformed his personal life as well. His deepened understanding of cell biology highlighted the mechanisms by which the mind controls bodily functions (we are NOT at the mercy of our DNA), and implied the existence of an immortal spirit. He applied this science to his personal biology and discovered that his physical well-being improved, and the quality and character of his daily life was greatly enhanced.
He has taken his award-winning medical school lectures to the public (he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows) and is currently a much-sought-after keynote speaker and presenter for national and international conferences, a recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. He lectures to conventional and complementary medical professionals and lay audiences about leading-edge science and how it dovetails with mind-body medicine and spiritual principles.
The latest book of Lipton’s, upon which this current DVD is based, is Spontaneous Evolution. Here, he offers you the information, inspiration, and invitation to participate in the greatest adventure in human history—conscious evolution! With economic meltdown, environmental crisis, and seemingly endless warfare, the world is in critical condition. We’ve all heard stories of people who experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from illness but—can the same thing happen for our world? According to Lipton, it’s not only possible—it’s already happening. He believes we are surrounded by the proof that we are poised to take an incredible step forward in the growth of our species and offers a new and hopeful story about humanity’s evolutionary destiny.
This is an insightful, playful, and ultimately hopeful look at the unfolding destiny of our species—watch this one and decide for yourself how YOU will choose to evolve.
Enjoy over 80 minutes of colorful graphics and Lipton’s animated presentation!

National Geographic Channel
This DVD presents the first two parts of National Geographic Channel’s new, eight-part series, “Chasing UFOs,” which premiered this summer. You get to join three thrill seekers in their adventure-packed quest to explore alien-related mysteries. Comprising one believer, one skeptic, and one undecided—meet the dynamic “three-o”: (Yes, this DVD has a ‘Batman-and-Robin-esque’ feel to it, though there’s also the ‘X-File-ish’ manner, as well. But these “Scullys and Mulders” are not looking for more stories on extraterrestrial activity as much as they’re looking for answers, so they say.)
Erin Ryder—the team’s tech supervisor and one tough-as-nails female with a passion for adventure (the undecided one)
Ben McGee—the lead field researcher, their resident scientist, who gathers evidence at proposed sites of unexplained occurrences and scientifically determines its origin (the skeptic)
James Fox—the “UFOlogist” of the group—the believer, with good reason—He is the innovative investigator who has already produced two documentaries on UFOs: I Know What I Saw and Out of the Blue (which was reviewed in the previous issue of Atlantis Rising). His continuing search is for definitive evidence that can prove we are not alone.
In the series premiere, Ryder, Ben, and James saddle up for an investigation into a close encounter of the Texas kind. Following reports of an enormous object that was spotted by dozens of people across two Texas towns, the team sets out to find an explanation. On Tuesday, January 2008, around 9 p.m., residents in the town of Dublin noticed a string of intensely bright lights moving in from the northeast. Witnesses said the lights began blinking and creating patterns that resembled Egyptian hieroglyphics. As the object moved over the town, those looking up said it made no noise. The object then traveled on to Stephenville, four miles west. Residents reported seeing the same lights and patterns before the craft disappeared into the night. The object was spotted by so many people it became national news; but even with the media attention, there’s been no explanation for what the people of these towns saw. After following up with some local leads, the team organizes an impromptu Town Hall. More than 30 people attend to share what they witnessed that Tuesday night. What strikes the team is how similar their accounts are. The testimonies only ramp up the team’s curiosity and resolve to find an explanation. But while searching for the truth, they have a sighting that makes them wonder what’s really going on in the Texas skies.
Then, for the second episode, they head to Fresno, California, where residents fear they are the ones being watched after witnessing unusual objects patroling the night skies and noticing a white van spying on them. Some say the government is using alien aircraft to spy on citizens. The team finds itself in a compromising situation or two as they proceed.
You’ll either find yourself entertained by this series, as it does have a fun vibe, or disappointed if you expected more serious professionalism. Either way, the quality is great!
