Even for video consumers who demand production value normally available from the mainstream media, alternative science is starting to provide a much more viable option for consideration. A case in point is the latest offering from Illustra Media.
LIVING WATERS: Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth
This is the third film in Illustra Media’s series The Design of Life. The first two—Metamorphosis and Flight—were previously reviewed in Atlantis Rising.
Each episode explores a different realm of the animal kingdom and the astonishing biological systems that make life on Earth possible—photographed in North America, England, Peru, Greenland, and Antarctica. Living Waters—photographed throughout the Pacific, Caribbean, and Atlantic Oceans, and the rivers of Washington and Canada—explores the mysteries of humpback whales, sea turtles, dolphins, and salmon from a perspective ignored by the BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel. Instead of exalting a worldview based upon scientific materialism and undirected evolutionary processes, Living Waters celebrates a timeless truth: every creature that swims, runs, flies, or crawls across our planet is the product not of genetic accidents or blind chance but of purpose, imagination, and design.
Celebrating the beauty and brilliance of the biological systems that make life in the oceans possible, this production opens stunning windows of discovery, including: (a) a spectacular tour of a dolphin’s internal sonar system—a mechanism so powerful and precise, the animals can locate and capture small fish buried in the sand—in fact, a blindfolded dolphin can locate a BB pellet on a pool floor! It can also distinguish a ping-pong ball and a golf ball on the basis of density; (b) the magnetic compass embedded in the head of a sea turtle—a biological wonder that guides these long-distance travelers as they journey across thousands of miles of open sea; (c) a Pacific salmon’s amazing sense of smell—an elaborate navigational aid that leads the fish back from years in the ocean to the gravel streambed where it was born; (d) the power and majestic grace of a humpback whale—a creature whose existence defies the theory of Darwinian evolution. It has a very complex system of clicks and sounds. And the male has a sophisticated cooling system for its reproductive organs, which are internal and subject to overheating from body heat.
One of the film’s featured scientists is philosopher of biology Paul Nelson, who is a Fellow of Discovery Institute and Adjunct Professor in the Master of Arts Program in Science & Religion at Biola University. He is a philosopher of biology who has been involved in the intelligent design debate internationally for over two decades. Nelson received his Ph.D. (1998) in the philosophy of biology and evolutionary theory at the University of Chicago. His scholarly articles have appeared in journals such as Biology & Philosophy, Zygon, Rhetoric and Public Affairs, and Touchstone, and book chapters in the anthologies Mere Creation (Intervarsity Press), Signs of Intelligence (Brazos), Intelligent Design Creationism and Its Critics (MIT Press), and Darwin, Design, and Public Education (Michigan State University Press). Dr. Nelson is a co-author of the biology textbook Explore Evolution, and he has appeared in several films on intelligent design for Illustra Media.
The featured speakers argue that all these systems are much too complex to have arisen by natural selection acting upon random mutations, and they propose intelligent design instead. And it seems hard to argue with the concept of irreducible complexity. They quote Albert Einstein: “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious, because mystery is the source of all true science.”
‘Intelligent design’ refers to a scientific research program as well as a community of scientists, philosophers, and other scholars who seek evidence of design in nature. The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. Through the study and analysis of a system’s components, a design theorist is able to determine whether various natural structures are the product of chance, natural law, intelligent design, or some combination thereof. Such research is conducted by observing the types of information produced when intelligent agents act. Scientists then seek to find objects, which have those same types of informational properties, which we commonly know come from intelligence. Intelligent design has applied these scientific methods to detect design in irreducibly complex biological structures, the complex and specified information content in DNA, the life-sustaining physical architecture of the universe, and the geologically rapid origin of biological diversity in the fossil record during the Cambrian explosion approximately 530 million years ago.
Is intelligent design the same as creationism? No. The theory of intelligent design is simply an effort to empirically detect whether the “apparent design” in nature acknowledged by virtually all biologists is genuine design (the product of an intelligent cause) or is simply the product of an undirected process such as natural selection acting on random variations. Creationism typically starts with a religious text and tries to see how the findings of science can be reconciled to it. Intelligent design starts with the empirical evidence of nature and seeks to ascertain what inferences can be drawn from that evidence. Unlike creationism, the scientific theory of intelligent design does not claim that modern biology can identify whether the intelligent cause detected through science is supernatural.
Honest critics of intelligent design acknowledge the difference between intelligent design and creationism. University of Wisconsin historian of science Ronald Numbers is critical of intelligent design, yet according to the Associated Press, he “agrees the creationist label is inaccurate when it comes to the ID [intelligent design] movement.” Why, then, do some Darwinists keep trying to conflate intelligent design with creationism? According to Dr. Numbers, it is because they think such claims are “the easiest way to discredit intelligent design.” In other words, the charge that intelligent design is “creationism” is a rhetorical strategy on the part of Darwinists who wish to delegitimize design theory without actually addressing the merits of its case.
Is intelligent design a scientific theory? Yes. The scientific method is commonly described as a four-step process involving observations, hypothesis, experiments, and conclusion. Intelligent design begins with the observation that intelligent agents produce complex and specified information (CSI). Design theorists hypothesize that if a natural object was designed, it will contain high levels of CSI. Scientists then perform experimental tests upon natural objects to determine if they contain complex and specified information. One easily testable form of CSI is irreducible complexity, which can be discovered by experimentally reverse-engineering biological structures to see if they require all of their parts to function. When ID researchers find irreducible complexity in biology, they conclude that such structures were designed.
This unforgettable documentary weaves a magnificent tapestry of extraordinary cinematography and computer animation, original music, cutting-edge science, and much more. Whether or not one is into intelligent design, the photography and animation alone are worth a viewing.

ALIENS ON IAPETUS: A Farsight Remote-Viewing Project
Here is another review of a Farsight Institute DVD. We’ve previously reviewed their: (a) Farsight Experiments in which Courtney Brown, Director of the Farsight Institute, explains experiments that shatter old concepts of time, space, physics, and consciousness itself. He tells us to forget what we were taught in school about what we can or cannot know or do. Our understanding of who we are and why we are here begins anew, today. (b) Atlantis: the True Story, a study that combines the use of remote viewing, Google Earth imagery, a touch of genetic knowledge, and a hefty amount of open-minded thinking. (c) The Great Pyramid of Giza, a breakthrough scientific study that combines the use of remote viewing on an unprecedented scale to solve the mystery of the Great Pyramid of Giza. (d) Remote Viewing: Cydonia, Mars—According to remote-viewing data collected at The Farsight Institute, this documentary resolves the issue of the so-called “Face on Mars.” We now know, they say, that this anomaly was actually a city where Martians lived. This is Part 1 of a revolutionary three-part documentary focusing on extraterrestrials in our own solar system. Aliens on Iapetus is Part 2 of this project.
This documentary focuses on what appears to be a huge set of structures on the surface of Iapetus, a moon of Saturn. The apparent structures are clearly visible in a photograph that was taken by the Cassini space probe that still orbits Saturn. This was not a military outpost, or a spy base, or an industrial or mining location. This was much bigger in design and scope. The science of remote viewing has matured to the extent that such a project as this is finally achievable. But no one, say the producers, could have expected the results to be as shocking as what was actually revealed by these new data.
Once again, Dick Allgire and Daz Smith (featured in the previous documentaries), two of the most skilled remote viewers alive today, offer us new eyewitness reports that describe these off-planet structures and the people who built and used them. Allgire and Smith have long and well-documented public track records with remote viewing, a great deal of which is available on the website for The Farsight Institute (http://farsight.org) in projects spanning many years. The quality of the remote-viewing sessions for this project is absolutely stellar. These sessions are clear representations of the targets, both verbally and with unambiguous drawings.
Procedures using remote viewing were developed by the United States military and used for espionage—and are considered a real phenomenon. Now, these same procedures, or methods that are derivative of these procedures, are used in civilian research. We are reminded that all remote viewing for this project (as with all projects conducted at The Farsight Institute) was conducted under totally blind conditions. The viewers were told nothing about the project or specific targets while they were conducting their remote-viewing sessions. They were only instructed by a nonleading e-mail that there is a target and that they should remote view it. For those who find this a topic of interest, you will find this current viewing to be quite stunning!

ET ORIGINS—SECRETS OF THE STAR PEOPLE
Previous DVDs created by Emmy Award Winning Filmmaker Bill Cote include: The Mystery of the Sphinx, The Mysterious Origins of Man, and The Mysterious Stone Monuments of Markawasi Peru, all of which are still sold by Atlantis Rising.
The interviews for this documentary were actually filmed in 1996, but as you will clearly see, the background and people on the street, etc., are modern. Bill Cote says he edited it over the past year and completed it in October 2015; that no distribution option was available in 1996. “Then, 18 months ago,” he says, “I revisited the footage and thought it held up pretty well and the message was pertinent for today. So I completed the project, including some more modern images to help tell the story, and uploaded in early October of 2015.” (Interestingly, there is an interview with Courtney Brown looking much younger than in his DVD Aliens on Iapetus, also reviewed here.)
In this film, Native American tribal leaders speak out for the first time about their secret knowledge of The Star People, knowledge that has been passed down for thousands of years. It was revealed in a dream shared by tribal elders that now was the time to break their silence and share their hidden knowledge of The Star People: the visitors from other worlds. In this film you will meet people with firsthand experience with ETs, hear amazing stories of the unknown, and witness for yourself a mysterious event that occurred in the skies: for some, a visible sign from the Star People that we are not alone.
Among those interviewed are:
Ed McGaa of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, who states: “All along we’ve had spirit beings help us…my people, Sioux people, have a connection into the beyond that most other tribes do not have… Why do we have it? Because we’ve honed it down through time. Also, our philosophy, the way we think, the way we think of the creator, doesn’t block that out. When spirit comes in—I know this sounds strange—spirits come in like electricity, sparks; they’re energy… spirit guides may be extraterrestrials….
Rauni-Leena Kilde, M.D., from Finland, states: “The most important thing is spiritual, and, of course, that doesn’t interest the military… religion will collapse—not spirituality, and not anything to do with God, of course, because this will always remain; but the human ego will collapse. We are not the peak of the universe; in fact, we are stone-age man!”
Drunvalo Melchizadek: “We are all connected… all else is just illusion… these beings from other levels…keep cycling… each one of us is God. We live in a huge experiment. The entire creation is an experiment that will allow anything to take place; life is looking to see all possibilities. One of the possibilities is that we can appear to be separate from everyone else. So, we’re exploring what that is, and we’re not the only ones. In this galaxy alone, there are many others doing the same thing. What if you knew the moment you were going to die? Would that effect the way you live your life? What it does is, it keeps you out of the moment, which is what all of your spiritual teachings are trying to do—get us to this place where we are living in the moment.”
Kathleen Milner, Reiki and Other Rays of Touch Healing: “Our brain is a computer, and what we are receiving is information from our Higher Self, from our angels, from our guides that travel with us because we cannot do this earth-walk alone. So, in some sense, we are all channelers; we all have to have this telepathic ability to receive messages. The key to receiving really clear messages is to have a clear brain.”
And there are many others sharing their stories and opinions on these topics—Barbara Marciniak, author of Bringers of the Dawn; Richard Boylan, UFO researcher; Robert Dean, ufologist, retired from the U.S. Army as a Command Sergeant Major; and many unknowns just sharing their ET contact stories. There certainly is a variety of information offered on these topics.
