Rosslyn Chapel’s Darkest Secret

BY JEFF NISBET

In “Return to Rosslyn Chapel,” published in Atlantis Rising #48, I revealed my discovery of a Lorraine Cross encoded in Rosslyn’s five-course vaulted ceiling. Wayne Herschel, author of 2003’s The Hidden Records, has now added another layer to the mystery by claiming that a Vitruvian Man, a symbol made much of in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, is also encoded there. His claim has led me to Rosslyn’s darkest secret. I had discovered the cross when, upon looking at the ceiling, I noticed that…

The Underground Stream & Rennes-le-Chateau

By Steven Sora

Millions who have read Dan Brown’s book or seen the movie The Da Vinci Code, have been intrigued by the story of the Priory of Sion, a mysterious secret society which some believe operated for centuries behind the scenes of European and American history. As has been argued recently in British courts, most of the ideas in Brown’s book were taken from the the 1980s best-seller Holy Blood, Holy Grail, but the actual facts behind both works were laid down decades and centuries earlier. Today…

The Real Secret Society Behind the DaVinci Code

BY MARK AMARU PINKHAM

As anyone knows, who has read Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, the plot revolves around the clandestine activities of an ancient secret society known as the Priory of Sion. The actual existence of this society, claims Brown, is one of the few irrefutable truths woven into his fictional novel. This may have been true when he was writing his manuscript, but recently the authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail, the non-fiction book that introduced Brown to the Priory, publicly stated that the organization appears…

Still More News

Vatican Open to Aliens, but Not Dan Brown As the Vatican has it, there may be alien beings in outer space (perhaps even without original sin). Dan Brown, however, remains unredeemed. In June, the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic church made itself clear on both the possibility of alien life and the chances that the Da Vinci Code and it forthcoming prequel Angels and Demons have any truth in them. Life on Mars cannot be ruled out, says Father Gabriel Funes, the Pope’s chief astronomer….

Asylum from the TERROR

BY STEVEN SORA

In the very rural, thick forested land of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, on a scenic bend of the North branch of the Susquehanna River exists a 1600-acre preserve called the Azilum, or in English, the Asylum. On its northwest boundary is a huge Standing Stone, twenty-five feet high that served as a meeting place for the Iroquois from at least a century before Europeans arrived. The land is protected by both the river and the thick woods. Even today the area is best described as “out…

Rosslyn Chapel & 2012

BY JAN WICHERINK

The inscription on William Sinclair’s grave in Rosslyn Chapel reads: William de St. Clair, Knight Templar. On his gravestone a mysterious key with an eight-pointed cross is depicted. The official coat of arms of the Sinclair’s is a four-pointed cross in a stitch pattern, and it’s well known that the Knights Templar used both four- and eight-pointed crosses in their coat of arms. So the question is: what does this key on William Sinclairs grave represent? Could this key possibly unlock some of the mysteries…

Mystery of the Black Madonna

BY MARK AMARU PINKHAM

Throughout the ages the image of the black madonna has elicited profound veneration, but also intense trepidation and even abhorrence from its observers. While Catholics have sought to denigrate and even to shun the numerous Black Madonnas scattered throughout their own European churches—the followers of the older, nature-centered and alternative faiths have traditionally praised its beauty and uplifting power. In 1952 during a convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, representatives of the church made their feelings clear when a paper on…

The Strange Death of Caravaggio

By Steven Sora

One of the world’s most renowned artists and troublemakers had finally gone too far. And this time no one could protect him. Previously, even after being convicted of a brutal murder, he had been allowed to join the Knights of Malta who had become his protectors. That had lasted until he committed another offense the nature of which remained unknown until this century, but it was serious enough to have him booted out of the order. So his erstwhile protectors, the very same Knights of…
