In Atlantis Rising, (March 2010) Philip Coppens described rumors of secret passageways under the Giza Plateau including brief details of an illegal excavation that occurred in September 2009. The illegal excavation was apparently a search for Edgar Cayce’s Egyptian Hall of Records. Until researcher Bill Brown asked me for assistance in arranging a meeting with John Van Auken, Director of the Association For Research & Enlightenment (ARE), I was not aware of the details. Oddly, only a few days before Brown’s request, he sent an email stating that the ARE was involved in a coverup with Dr. Zahi Hawass, and that they were “lying.” It was the confirmed death of six Egyptians and a series of illegal activities that convinced me to try to unravel the details.
In September 2009, six Egyptians died in a collapsed shaft excavated under a house in Nazlat el-Samman, a village abutting the Giza Plateau. The house and shaft were alongside the wall erected around the pyramids and Sphinx to control access and stop looting. According to Egyptian newspapers, the tunnel had been a seven-month project, and at least 17 people were arrested.
The men “died while hunting for treasure when the floor beneath them collapsed … rescue teams spent four days desperately trying to save the six Egyptians, who had been trapped in a large hole … The rescuers eventually hauled them up as dead bodies. The six people were allegedly fooled by a charlatan into believing that there was an antique treasure lying hidden beneath the house owned by one of them … the six died of asphyxia after they stayed for four days in the hole they had dug to a depth of about 15 metres … neighbours had heard screams as the house collapsed and almost disappeared into the hole shrouded in dust.” (http://www.ablogabouthistory.com/2009/10/14/treasurehunt-fatalities-in-egypt/)
The Alleged Conspiracy
Bill Brown and Richard Gabriel (a pseudonym) link a series of events to the deaths of the six people. They claim that the Hall of Records was accessed; artifacts from Atlantis were removed; and that various people are covering up what was recovered. These accusations have been made on websites and in widely circulated audio interviews. The information for this article comes from their website (www.richardgabriel.info), online interviews, and emails.
According to Brown, he was the manager of a Polish university’s Egypt ground penetrating radar (GPR) project. Brown adds that in 2006 he “privately and secretly” conducted GPR in Nazlat el-Samman, adjacent to the tunnel where the six Egyptians died. The secret GPR is explained as an assessment of the property for possible purchase. (He did not buy the property.) He reported he “was able to see a room about 8 by 8 feet with energy sources at the room’s corners.” Inside he “saw a wooden box about the size of a briefcase.” Inside the box were two foil-like “sheets of gold separated by a half-inch with a light-like energy, crystal, or plasma.” He “saw some type of writing on the gold sheets.” Brown states that a cylinder was removed which unnamed “experts” were calling “a generator.” This device is the alleged “Atlantean technology” artifact. Discussing Brown’s findings, Gabriel said adjacent “rooms were filled with treasures, gold and statues.” How Brown “saw” the box and writing was explained when Brown said that he actually “saw” these “in his mind.” According to Brown, since then he had been “playing cat and mouse with authority while trying to obtain access to sensitive areas…”
Brown claims someone stole his “GPR data” in Chicago around June 2009, three months prior to the deaths. In online interviews, he repeatedly suggests there was a connection between the stolen data and the illegal dig where the six Egyptians died. In a May 2010 talk, Brown stated: “Someone started to believe that our information was correct, and someone started digging there.”
Gabriel adds that he was told of several illegal digs, including one under the house where he stayed (adjacent to the site of the deaths). He also went to one of Mark Lehner’s official excavation sites, going through a barbed wire fence and taking photos when Lehner was not present. In another story, he was taken to “another illegal dig location” where inside a living room was “a huge cavernous hole disappearing into the ground.”
According to Brown, at 2:00 a.m. on April 28, 2010, a Polish friend “put on a uniform” so that he could enter the closed Giza area and walk past the guards and police who patrol the area. In the U.S. such a crime is called “impersonating an officer” and is a felony. I assume that in Egypt it is also a crime.
This person then supposedly shot film using a cell phone. On the film it’s difficult to see anything, except the moving around of a few trucks and loaders in the dark. According to Brown and Gabriel, artifacts were removed from the ground near the Sphinx. Brown was sent the film, and two enhanced still images were posted online with the caption being a nighttime “snatch and grab.” Brown relates that he sent an email to a “high up” official in Egypt who told Brown to post the entire film online, “to protect the person” who illegally filmed it.
Andrew Collins was asked to look into the affair, and he made an inquiry to John Van Auken. John called Cairo and found that the trucks were being used to prepare for the TMX-Red Bull event scheduled to be held directly in front of the Sphinx the next month. Brown and Gabriel interpreted this as a cover story for the removal of artifacts from the Hall of Records. They also allege that a “huge explosion” was heard the next morning, adding that a military satellite had picked up an energy burst in the Great Pyramid.
The TMX-Red Bull event was actually held directly in front of the Sphinx, and hundreds of websites have posted high quality video of it (http://extreme.com/fmx/1012183/adam-jones-and-the-pyramids-of-giza). The event was massive and involved construction of ramps and seating areas. Online films show heavy equipment construction ramps and large amounts of scaffolding being dumped from trucks. The so-called “explosion” and secret excavation relate to the heavy equipment used in the dumping of scaffolding.
I was then privy to a detailed evaluation led by Andrew Collins. Collins proved that the entire video was shot from a specific rooftop in the village of Nazlet el-Samman. In addition, the sound on the video was looped. None of the key allegations about this video were true. Brown then confessed that it had, in fact, been filmed from a roof in the village but said he “didn’t want the owner to get into trouble.” Brown wrote “a friend had put on a police hat and coat to get past some people. But he was not dressed to impersonate as he didn’t have a full uniform on. … The clothing ‘appearance’ just allowed him to get close enough to see more, hear more, and capture on video film camera what he could get closer than from on top of the rooftop.”
I won’t belabor this point further, but the “closer” film doesn’t seem to exist. As to the idea that wearing a police hat and coat isn’t impersonating an officer, I’d suspect the authorities would have a different interpretation. But we can’t even be sure if this part of the story is true. It is not clear why this person was in any danger (other than simple arrest if he actually did dress as a policeman), and I have no reason whatsoever to understand Gabriel’s assertion that he might be murdered because of the rooftop film. There is nothing on the film to indicate that an excavation took place. The film shows the area where the TMX-Red Bull event was being prepared.
According to Brown, secret “high level” military people are now involved in Giza. Brown says he had a meeting in Washington with a secret group who had “high technology” capability, and they were analyzing the video. Brown also claims that there is an ongoing satellite surveillance operation of Giza and that “in the USA [a] Majestic 12 military team [had been] mobilized out of Texas.” In another video, Brown stated that he was now “working with Washington” on the project. The reason for the military involvement is explained by Brown in how the Atlantean technology device needs to be used to save the earth from a catastrophe due to strike in December 2012.
2012 and the Giza Geomatrix
Brown’s Geomatrix supposedly explains why the Giza monuments were configured as they are. It is based on Giza’s mimicking numerous constellations and has over 100 stars on the ground. It’s incomprehensible to me even after watching all of his presentations and reading his explanations. Brown and Gabriel state that all of the “hot spots” of this complex of hundreds of stars have been “completely verified.” Brown and Gabriel mix the ideas of trance channeled, psychic, or out-of-body experiences as being a “verification.” In one interview, Gabriel said he had “seen” the “Tuaoi Stone,” which was Edgar Cayce’s term for a crystal that eventually became the “firestone.” I asked Gabriel where he had “seen” the Tuaoi Stone, and he replied that it was during an out-of-body experience.
The importance of the Atlantean technology and energy crystal in the Geomatrix is linked to 2012 in a rather fantastic way. Brown says his wife had psychically discovered that inside the mummy of the Pharaoh Khufu is a hidden crystal, and that the specific spot where the illegal dig and deaths had taken place is where this mummy is located.
According to Brown, prior to the end of 2012, the crystal has to be placed inside a secret chamber in the Great Pyramid. This “activates all of the pyramids in the world” and shields the earth from a deadly blast of radiation they assert will strike in 2012. Therein, apparently, lies the urgency they show to obtain the “crystal” and the justification for a lot of the questionable activities. They claim that other groups are trying to secretly grab the “high Atlantean technology” for their own darker purposes.
Edgar Cayce never mentioned or discussed 2012. And it’s important to keep in mind that 2012 is from the Maya calendar. I know of nothing in Egyptian lore that mentions 2012. Many people have proposed ideas about the placement of the pyramids and other structures at Giza. Robert Bauval’s and Adrian Gilbert’s (1994) Orion constellation idea is well known. Andrew Collins’s (2006—The Cygnus Mystery) proposal that the constellation of Cygnus was the blueprint for Giza is now one of the best-known and most discussed theories. In 2004 Collins identified a previously unrecognized well in the Moslem cemetery south of the Sphinx, which is now thought to contain a passageway heading off toward the Sphinx. Collins’ Cygnus correlation at Giza was a key factor in his discovery of an unknown cave complex on the other side of the plateau in 2008. These discoveries could have been the initial impetus for Brown and Gabriel’s conspiracy assertions.
The alleged involvement of the ARE in a conspiracy covering up the recovery of Atlantean technology and Atlantean artifacts is not supported by any evidence. On August 25 I asked John Van Auken about it. There is not a shred of evidence indicating that the ARE is “lying” about this. The ARE is certainly interested in the Egypt Hall of Records but is working slowly and on a small scale. The ARE routinely issues updates on what transpires in Egypt in written, internet, and group presentations. Those who understand the internal operations of the ARE know that if something is recovered in Egypt that even remotely links to Cayce’s Hall of Records, it will be quickly announced.
Brown and Gabriel draw their validation for the Geomatrix from the discoveries of Andrew Collins, which they seemingly claim as their own. In an online lecture (5-9-10) Brown related, “we have found a cave system at Giza.” Gabriel also claims that the well found by Collins in 2004 is near one of Brown’s hundred stars. Oddly, not one of Brown’s 100+ stars falls close to the cave entrance. In an evaluation of these claims, I found that Gabriel attended Andrew Collins’ first presentation on the cave’s location in August 2009 and then went to Egypt (just after the deaths of the six Egyptians). In November 2009 Gabriel entered the caves and in 2010 put his photos online without any details regarding the date they were taken. Gabriel also gave them a new name, as if he had made the discovery. There is no evidence whatsoever that anyone, including Zahi Hawass, knew about the existence of the cave complex until Andrew Collins made it known.
The alleged conspiracy appears totally baseless; and the allegation that Washington, Majestic-12, and other groups have removed an Atlantean technology device is hard to take seriously. The link to 2012 and the need for the crystal to be placed inside the Great Pyramid seem purely fanciful. But for those who want to believe in it, the answer is simple: by 2013 we’ll know.
Nearly all of the claims related to this conspiracy made by Brown and Gabriel have been shown to be false and, we suspect, are a way to gain attention for an online “petition” to the Egyptian authorities to sanction an excavation at what they see as the Hall of Records. They have an online proposal detailing the funds they need. This contradicts Brown’s statement that he was now “working with Washington” on the project.
The fact is that GPR results form the major evidence for Brown’s ideas. In the 5th episode of Hawass’ History Channel series Chasing Mummies, Hawass stated that there would be no more drilling in Egypt based on GPR. GPR showed too many false anomalies—cracks in the stone—he claimed. Perhaps this is the response Brown’s GPR team received and is a source of frustration. Of course, Hawass isn’t exactly true to his word, either. After the caves discovery was announced by Collins, Hawass wrote that the caves did not exist. But on the September 1 episode “Bats” on Chasing Mummies, Hawass opened the cave system to cameras.
It is possible that the Hall of Records as described by Cayce is there. It could be in the area Brown identifies. Unfortunately, the deaths of the six Egyptians and the illegal activities to gain access from the adjacent village might well have put a stop to all such investigations for our lifetimes. In essence, I believe that those of us who have an interest in topics such as this must have lines of morally acceptable behavior beyond which we do not cross.

Brown and Gabriels’ story doesn’t quite add up for me but this odd story did appear quite recently (at the end of November 2010), could it have something to do with these events?
News reports circulating over the internet describe the head of Cairo University Archeology Department, Dr. Ala Shaheen addressing an audience about recent discoveries around the Giza Plateau, the location of the Sphinx and Great Pyramid.
In a shock statement he implied there might be truth to the theory that a highly advanced civilization, or benevolent extraterrestrials, helped the ancient Egyptians build the oldest of pyramids, the Pyramids of Giza. Stunned, the audience was allowed to ask the professor questions.
A delegate from Poland, Ms. Marek Novak inquired if the pyramids might contain alien technology, or even a UFO with its structure. Dr. Shaheen was vague when he replied “I cannot confirm or deny this, but there is something inside the pyramid that is ‘not of this world’.”

Could it be coincidence? Synchronicity? Imagine my surprise coming across this article on the very day I finished reading the book “Decipher”. A ‘fictional’ tale whose pages contained almost every event mentioned here. What’s going on?
We still get plenty of links back to our site from this article. In the interests of accuracy and truth therefore, not withstanding simple right-of-reply, we offer these two links!
